Does This Make My Butt Look Big???

Yesterday I bought the swimsuit below. Note, I will only wear this in my backyard, and perhaps at the beach some day. I will never EVER model it for my blog, so you can breathe a huge sigh of relief … you ain’t gonna see me in a swimsuit here.

Tell me what you think.  No comments required on the merits of the tankini itself.  I know in thirty years the tankini will probably be considered the biggest fashion faux pas in the history of faux pi.  Even so, I’m a tankini kind of girl, as bikinis are just out of the question.  I already have a nice black one-piece, but I find one-pieces hot (as in my body gets hot, not to be confused with the other kind of hot).   Oh, all right.  I’m hot.  In the middle of July in Texas, you’d be surprised how much cooler you feel when sporting a naked inch of midriff, and I only wish I was joking.

Anyway, when I bought this suit, I asked the two young girls at the checkout what they thought.  This was a buy one piece buy the second piece kind of deal.  You’ll notice the pieces don’t match, but they do have all the same colors. One girl bobbed her head thoughtfully and said it just might work.  The other girl shook her head side-to-side and said it would drive her crazy (probably thought I was a little off also) and wasn’t there a solid color bottom back there somewhere?

What I didn’t tell her is that I DID try on the solid color bottom and I didn’t like it.  I LIKE the horizontal stripes because I think it makes my butt look BIGGER.  Hey, some of us have big butts, and some of us don’t.  Big butts are in right now and this is my best chance of ever having one.  I feel a song coming on … I like big butts and I cannot lie …

So, whaddaya think?  Are the patterns too busy?  More importantly, and I realize you must use your imagination here  … does this swimsuit make my butt look big?  Don’t lie to me now …

Squat

Anyone notice that I haven’t written squat lately?  Well, I haven’t written squat lately, and I haven’t written any other words either.  The ol’ blog is teetering towards irrelevance.  Hell, it tottered into irrelevance the day it began almost a year ago.  Do you ever notice that when some people’s blogiversaries roll around, they write a post like this … what the hell, my blog is a year old, and I’m doing this why???  Well, you’re reading another one.  Both of you.

I guess a better word would be extinction.  This blog is teetering towards extinction.  Going the way of the Black Rhino, the Mountain Gorilla, and the Short-tailed Albatross (all listed first on the Top Ten Most Endangered Species List, depending on which website you believe), albeit not so devastating.  So, hurry up and send in those donations, folks … maybe together we can Save Carla’s BlogJust teasing …

What’s new that hasn’t already been thought of, hasn’t already been written, hasn’t already been read?  Not much.  Yet, here I am, rearranging words and waiting for inspiration to hit me between the eyes.  Until next time …

I’m Ridin’ in Your Car … You Turn On the Radio …

apple-ipod-nano-8-gb-r47250-0-smallI have joined a revolution.  A revolution to overturn the government?  Nope.  Think I’ll give Obama a little more time.  A cycle or orbit around the planet?  Nope.  My feet are still firmly planted.  Only the iPod revolution.  Seems everyone has one, and now I do, too.  It is a cute little nano baby.  I have named it Little Blue.

Little Blue has 8 GB of space, which means absolutely nothing to me, but supposedly the thing holds about 2,000 songs.   That should do.   One of my sons has the iPod classic, the Big Daddy, which has 120 GB of space.  Really?  I think newer iPods even have more space.  Hey, I’m happy with Little Blue.  At my age, if someone gave me a 120 GB iPod classic, I wouldn’t have enough time to hear 120 GB’s worth of songs, much less load them, before I, well, you know …

Anyway, I have always wanted a collection of all of my favorite songs in one place, kind of a like my very own personal Time Life Series of Carla’s Most Favorite Songs.  In my last job, for which I drove to downtown Dallas every day, I had an abundance of radio time in the car.  Every so often, I would hear a song and think, dang, that’s my favorite song!   So I started keeping a little notebook in the car and every time I heard my most favorite songs I would jot down the artists and titles in hopes that Hubby would some day make me a Time Life Series of Carla’s Most Favorite Songs.  I never turned over my list to him, though, and in fact, am still working on it.

I have loaded the favorite songs on this list (as of today) on Little Blue.  I have also loaded some other songs that I like.  I seriously have had to come to terms with the fact that, while it wasn’t my original intent to have a collection of Songs Carla Likes mushed together with Carla’s Most Favorite Songs, I guess I will have to make it work.  Is it possible to have 2,000 favorite songs?  I don’t know about that.

By the way, if you recognized it, the title of this post is from a song called “Fire” by the Pointer Sisters.  You guessed it, one of my most favorite songs.  I haven’t loaded it yet, because I’ve only made it through the E’s in my cd collection.  Got a way to go before I get to P’s, you see.   My tastes in music are wide and varied.  Rock-n-roll from all previous decades, 80s alternative, country,  pop from all ages, current rock/alternative, jazz, you name it, and if it strikes my fancy, it goes on the list.   I think it’s fun to hear a song from one genre, then another from a totally different genre … one right after the other!!!  Some people say I’m easily excitable …

I haven’t figured out Little Blue yet, except how to load the songs, and how to listen to them.  Apparently, I can make “playlists” on iTunes for which I will most certainly make a Time Life Playlist of Carla’s Most Favorite Songs.  Then I’ll probably make a Time Life Playlist of Songs Carla Likes and maybe even a Time Life Playlist of Songs Carla Likes Just a Little.  Naaahhh,  just teasing …
